Hello, Texans Can Academy (TCA) – Dallas North Campus Community!
I'm Michael Madara Merriman, and I'm beyond thrilled to be your new Principal. As an Ohio native from Warrensville Heights (Cleveland), I've spent the past two decades dedicated to education, serving scholars and communities in Cleveland, Ohio; Las Vegas, Nevada; and the Bay Area of California. Now, I'm honored to bring my passion and experience to TCA – Dallas North Campus.
My educational journey has equipped me with a unique perspective and a toolkit to drive success. I hold an Associate of Applied Science in Business Information Systems, a Bachelor of Science in Business/Management, an MBA, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Human Resources, a Master of Human Resources Management, and an Education Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership.
At TCA, we embrace the mantra "Every Scholar, Every Day!" Our mission is to provide a safe, stimulating learning environment focused on high-quality, standards-based instruction. We're committed to preparing our scholars to graduate college and career-ready, empowering them to compete successfully on the global stage.
To achieve this, we're implementing some new campus norms this year:
· Dress Code: Let's present ourselves with pride! Solid black or white tops, khaki or jean bottoms, and closed-toe shoes are a must. ID badges are required, and outerwear is welcome, but let's leave the hoodies at home.
· Single-Point Entry/Exit: For safety, we're streamlining our entrance and exit to Door #1 on Skillman Street. Our campus is closed, and scholars should be present from 8:10 AM – 2:55 PM.
· Punctuality Matters: First period starts at 8:15 AM sharp. Plan to arrive by 8:00 AM if you're grabbing breakfast. Tardiness won't serve our scholars well in their accelerated program.
· Respectful Communication: Let's speak with kindness and avoid profanity. Our campus should feel safe and uplifting for everyone.
· Focused Learning: Cell phones will be collected during class. If you have an emergency, we have phones available in the front office.
In our global society, critical thinking and informed decision-making are key. We'll provide opportunities for remediation, build presentation skills, and offer support with resumes, college applications, and financial aid. Your feedback is crucial as we navigate this path to academic excellence together.
I'm eager to meet you and learn how we can best support our scholars. Let's make this a monumental year!
